Job Description

Interface Engineering is a progressive multi-discipline mechanical and electrical consulting firm known for sensitive resource use, advanced building science tools, and creative engineering solutions. We focus on innovative solutions for high performance buildings, and provide technical expertise through design, construction and operations. Our work demonstrates how creative collaboration can produce outstanding results.

We are seeking a Lighting Designer to join our Portland based Lighting Team.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: 

Basic evaluation of luminaire photometry
Assisting team with lighting design layout
Generating lighting calculations
Assisting with luminaire selection
Providing design advice and expertise to clients​


Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will have:

A degree in Lighting Design, Interior Design, Architectural or Electrical Engineering (or other lighting-related field)
Prior exposure to lighting design concepts and the architectural design process
Enthusiasm  for being part of an integrated architectural + engineering team
Good problem-solving and hand drawing skills
Excellent research and communication skills
The ability to function effectively in a team dynamic
Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
Understanding of computer-generated lighting calculations and photometrics; solid working knowledge of AGI32

Ideal candidates will have:

Working experience in commercial lighting design 
An aptitude for digital design software: experience with Sketch-up, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite
A true appreciation of collaboration and the team environment​
